Volunteer Parent
Educators
Volunteers are recruited, screened, trained and supervised by
a staff of professional social workers. Volunteer Parent
Educators
are assigned to families at risk to offer support, education,
guidance, a positive role model and advocacy. Under
the supervision of a social worker or case supervisor, a parent
educator is expected to work with a family from 4-6 hours a week for
at least four months. Parent Educators are also required to attend
monthly staff /volunteer meetings and in-service trainings.

Volunteer Mentors
If you are over 21 years old and would like to make a difference
in the life of an adolescent in Foster Care, then the One-on-One
Mentoring Program (OOMP) may be for you. The 14-21 year
old adolescents are in out-of-home placement and all are
referred by the Department of Children and Families.
If you are
able to commit to a minimum of one hour per week, three weeks
per month for one year, you can and will make a positive
difference in an adolescent's life. You can help the youth
explore career options, evaluate educational alternatives, find
a job, get established in the community, and enjoy recreational
activities.
It is
preferable that you live in or close to one of the following
towns we serve: Andover, Bolton, East Granby, East
Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, Glastonbury, Granby,
Hebron, Manchester, Marlborough, Somers, Stafford, Suffield,
Tolland, Vernon/Rockville, Windsor Locks.
Supervised Visitation
Monitors
KIDSAFE CT is taking applications for per diem supervised visitation
monitors.
Under the direction of the Visitation
Coordinator,
the Supervised Visitation Monitor provides supervision of visits
for children and their non-custodial family members.
Responsibilities:
1) Provide transportation for the children to and from their
foster homes to the visitation site.
2) Provide supervised visitation services to families with parent
education as required by DCF or Court.
3) Document each visit on required reporting forms as directed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Service field is required.
One to two years experience working with troubled families or
Master’s Degree preferred.
